Working with Children Regulations 2016 (Vic)

9 February 2016
Not-for-profit Law submission in response to the Working with Children Regulations 2016 – Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS).

In January 2016, Not-for-profit Law made a submission to the Department of Justice & Regulation in response to the Working with Children Regulations 2016 – Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS), published in December 2015.

The RIS and our submission focuses on the fee-setting aspects of the Regulations, due to replace the Working with Children Regulations 2006 on 28 March 2016.  In particular, we call for a careful examination of the impacts of the proposed fee structures on the NFP sector and, of the four options presented, we recommend that the Department adopts the option which results in no increase in fees for employee Working with Children Check applications and renewals and retains free Checks for volunteers.
