Inquiry into Register of Environmental Organisations

25 May 2015
Not-for-profit Law has made a submission to a Parliamentary Inquiry into the Register of Environmental Organisations

Not-for-profit Law has made a submission to a Parliamentary Inquiry into the Register of Environmental Organisations (REO). The Inquiry, which was commenced by the Federal House of Representatives' Standing Committee on the Environment, is looking into the administration and transparency of REO and its effectiveness in supporting communities to take practical action to improve the environment. The committee called for submissions from interested organisations and individuals by 21 May 2015.

Not-for-profit Law's submission is based on our experience working with small to mediums not-for-profit organisations, and focuses on two of the Inquiry's terms of reference: the definition of environment organisation under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth), and the administration of the Register.
